Back in the day of BMX Racing (photos)

Here we go...Cow Palace Spring National March 1984!

That bro in front with the "1" on the plate inspired me to get into BMX when I turned twelve. I started working at shops when I was (13X?)  errr...ummm... so I could afford more than a Used department  store bike  and skateboard elbow pads. Racing gave me some of the best times I've had in my life... very intense, focused, exhilerating.  Mike brought his race bike and full-on gear to our Sixth Grade class for "Show and Tell Day", while other kids mercilessly  dragged in things  like dirt clods and sticks from their front yards.  Sparked a fire , that's for sure.  Thanks for the tip in the right direction, Mike.  You too, Joe.
